Message from the Executive Director
Proviso Area for Exceptional Children (P.A.E.C., District #803) is a special education cooperative legally organized in 1972 as a joint agreement with six member school districts. Our member districts are #87 - Berkeley, #88 - Bellwood, #89 - Maywood/Melrose Park, # 92 - Broadview, #93 -Hillside and #209 - Maywood.
P.A.E.C. is committed to providing quality professional development that is incorporated into the range of programs and services implemented throughout the P.A.E.C. Cooperative. P.A.E.C. is currently providing research based interventions for at risk students in general education and quality special education programs and services to students identified with special needs.
A priority focus for the 2011-2012 school year is for P.A.E.C. to ensure that families be fully involved in their child’s Individualized Education plan. P.A.E.C. Teams will facilitate this process by developing clearly defined priority student goals/objectives, providing information on interventions being implemented and accurate assessment data reflecting student progress. Information will be communicated in clear and concise language so that all members of the team understand and are able to participate in the components of the plan.
